It's that time of the year again. We're dusting off the lunch boxes and stocking up on pencils and notebooks. What better time of the year than to enjoy the fall harvest and create some fun, flavorful snacks for your little ones as they head on back into the classroom. We all know how tough it can be for kids to make the transition from the warm summer nights and carefree days to the early morning wake up calls and hustling to catch the school bus, so here are two, fresh, fun and healthy ideas that are sure to keep your kids energized throughout the day.

Warm Apple and Peanut Nibbles

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, chopped
  • 1 cup dried cherries
  • 2 cups peanuts
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes
  • 2 tsp. Musselman’s Apple Sauce, for topping

Directions (1 serving)

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Spread 1/3 cup of apple, cherry, peanut and coconut mixture on a baking sheet.
  • Bake until warm, approximately 6-7 minutes.
  • Serve warm alone in a bowl or atop Musselman’s Apple Sauce.

Ants on Apples

Ingredients

  • 1 apple
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 Tbsp. Musselman's Cinnamon Apple Sauce

Directions

  • Slice apple into 4 large pieces.
  • In a small bowl, combine raisins, Musselman’s Cinnamon Apple Sauce and honey. Spoon out on top of apple slices.
  • Serve.
