Go-To Snacks

After the holiday excitement and a fresh new year, February opens us to a month of love, so why not use this month to love your food and your body? I’ve been experimenting in my kitchen using my handy dandy food processor creating delicious snacks and desserts from pesto to hummus and smoothies to soups. So, I thought, why not add a touch of February love to my quick and easy go-to snacks this month? After all, we’re worth it.

All you’ll need is a food processor. How easy is that? These snacks are sure to please your taste buds anytime of the day and keep you happy and energized whether it’s morning, afternoon or evening. I like to combine lean proteins, essential fats and fresh produce in each snack to ensure my body is receiving enough love and care from vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Let’s start with hummus. But, not just any hummus; this time we’re adding love with Musselman’s. Simply add beans such as garbanzo beans, black beans or lima beans to the food processor along with fresh cilantro and a dollop of Musselman’s Apple Butter. Toss in a touch of chili powder, sea salt, freshly ground white pepper, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. Pulse to combine and serve with crudités, as a spread on toast, bagels or whole grain crackers.

Here are a few other ideas to toss into your food processor for quick and easy go-to-snacks or mini-meals. Just simply combine the below ingredients; pulse until desired consistency and serve.

  • Berry Mozzarella Dip: Fresh mozzarella, fresh berries, Musselman’s Lite Cinnamon Apple Sauce, nutmeg and sea salt.
  • Cashew Pesto: Cashews, silken tofu, Musselman’s Apple Juice, coriander, spinach, fresh basil, sea salt and sesame seeds.
  • Orange Coco Parfait: Greek yogurt, Musselman’s Apple Butter, coco powder, sea salt, fresh mint, orange zest and fresh pears.
  • Avocado Soup: Avocado, Musselman’s Apple Sauce, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, honey, sweet potatoes and parsnips.
  • Ricotta Banana Smoothie: Banana, ricotta cheese, Musselman’s Apple Sauce, fresh lime juice, sea salt and all-spice.
  • Chicken Salad: Cooked chicken breast, Musselman’s Apple Butter, cottage cheese, parsley and carrots.

Fun and easy, right? So, go ahead and create some love and excitement in your February. Whether you’re hibernating from a chilly snow storm or enjoying a day in the sun, you can whip up these quick snacks or mini-meals in mere minutes. The best part? Well, not only will you love the taste, but your body will love you as well because you’ll be enjoying wholesome, fresh foods every time you reach for your food processor.
