Learn More About Our Local Roots

Adams County is at the Core of our Business
For generations, Adams County (Gettysburg and surrounding area) has been one of the most important apple-growing regions in Pennsylvania. It is also home to many of the farm families behind Knouse Foods, the grower-owned cooperative that produces Musselman’s applesauce. In fact, many Adams County Fruit Growers Association member orchards are more than suppliers. As part of the Knouse Foods cooperative, they have a direct stake in the ownership and long-term success of the Musselman’s brand.

Generations of Apple Expertise
Behind every cup, jar, and pouch of Musselman’s apple sauce is a network of local growers who understand the responsibility that comes with caring for the land. Many of these orchards are multigenerational family farms, where knowledge is passed from one season to the next and decisions are made with the best interests of the land and community in mind.

Tradition, Stweardship and Heritage
Supporting Adams County fruit growers means supporting local agriculture, rural communities, family-owned farms, and the careful stewardship of one of Pennsylvania’s most valuable growing regions. It also means helping preserve working orchards, protecting agricultural heritage, and investing in the next generation of growers.

Farmed with the Future in Mind
Sustainability is central to that commitment. From responsible orchard practices and water conservation to waste reduction, solar energy initiatives, and efficient production, Knouse Foods and its grower-owners continue to look for better ways to care for the land while producing high-quality apple products. Our cooperative model reinforces that responsibility because our growers are also helping guide the future of the company.
