Apple-Mushroom Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

This easy slow cooker steak is in a creamy mushroom sauce. SHHHH, the secret ingredient is Musselman’s Apple Butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup MUSSELMAN’S® Apple Butter
  • 1 10.75-ounce can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 2 pounds boneless beef round steak, cut into serving-size pieces
  • 1 8-ounce container button mushrooms, sliced

Directions

  1. Step 1
    Mix the apple butter, mushroom soup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper in a large bowl.

  2. Step 2
    Place onions in bottom of 3 1/2 to 4-quart slow cooker. Layer on top with half of the steak pieces and then half of the mushrooms. Pour half of the apple butter mixture over the top.

  3. Step 3
    Repeat the layers; steak, mushrooms, and apple butter sauce. 

  4. Step 4
    Cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours or until meat is fork tender.

Serve over noodles, pasta, or rice.
