Apple Butter Curd

Prepare bakery level desserts by making home-made curd, a preserve made with eggs and butter and flavored with Musselman’s Apple Butter.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 7 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup MUSSELMAN’S® Apple Butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Step 1
    Mix butter, sugar and cornstarch with hand mixer.

  2. Step 2
    Add egg yolks, apple butter, salt, and cinnamon. Mix.

  3. Step 3
    Transfer mixture to a small saucepan over medium/low heat.

  4. Step 4
    Heat (while whisking continuously). 18-19 minutes for a thin curd or 20-23 minutes for a thick spreadable curd.

  5. Step 5
    Refrigerate overnight. Store in an airtight container.

Uses for Curd:

This cinnamon apple flavored curd is perfect for so many desserts. You can use it to fill puff pastry cups, tarts, mini hand pies, thumbprint cookies, cakes, macarons, pavlovas or donuts. Or spread directly on toast or scones. Apple curd would also be delicious as a topping for pancakes, waffles or ice cream.
