Poached Pears

Prepare restaurant level desserts by making home-made poached pears, flavored with sugar, spices and Musselman’s Fresh Pressed Apple Cider.

  • 1 cup MUSSELMAN’S® Apple Cider
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 4 pears, skinned


  1. Step 1
    Combine cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, lemon juice and butter in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.

  2. Step 2
    Add the peeled pears and simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender,  turning the pears every few minutes.

  3. Step 3
    Remove the pears from the syrup and allow to cool.

  4. Step 4
    Continue to simmer the syup for 15 to 20 minutes or until slightly thickened or reduced by half.

  5. Step 5
    Serve warm syrup over pears.
