Cherry Apple Oat Bars

Sweet, tart, and perfectly chewy, these Cherry Apple Oat Bars bring together the best of both worlds—delicious cherry fruit filling and smooth apple sauce layered between a buttery oat crust and crumble topping. A hint of cinnamon and brown sugar gives the bars a warm, cozy flavor. Baked until golden and bubbling, they slice into soft, crumbly bars that are just as good for an afternoon snack as they are for dessert. Enjoy chilled or warm!

Ingredients

Crust and Topping

  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Musselman's Unsweetened Apple Sauce
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Filling

Directions

  1. Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  2. Step 2
In a large bowl, stir together oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and brown sugar. Add the melted butter, applesauce, and vanilla extract. Mix until the mixture is crumbly and well combined.

  3. Step 3
Press about half of the oat mixture firmly into the bottom of your pan to form the crust. Save the rest for the topping.

  4. Step 4
Bake the crust for 10 minutes.

  5. Step 5
While that’s baking, make the filling. In a small bowl, stir together the cherry fruit filling, apple sauce and lemon juice. Spread mixture evenly over the crust.

  6. Step 6
Sprinkle the reserved oat mixture over the top of the cherry apple filling.

  7. Step 7
Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges. Let it cool completely before slicing into 9 bars. (Tip- chill them in the fridge for 30 minutes to get cleaner cuts!)
