What others are saying about this recipe

  1. Grace says:

Looks good, but what’s in “baking mix”?? I stock two kinds of flour, baking powder, baking soda, two kinds of oil, and butter. How can I make these?

    1. Musselman's says:

Baking mix comes in many brand names and most contain flour, baking powder, salt, and shortening. If you would like to make your own mix you can find several recipes online.

  2. Melissa says:

Baking mix is trademarked Bisquick, but most stores have their own generic baking mix

  3. Jackie Putman says:

    very good

  4. Judy Lange says:

What can be substituted for bananas?

    1. Musselman's says:

We have not tested the recipe without bananas. You could try adding a little more apple sauce (maybe 1/4 c) until the batter seems the right consistency.

  5. Pat Allsup says:

Am certainly going to try this. Can sugar substitute be exchanged for the sugar?

    1. Musselman's says:

We have not tested the recipe with a sugar substitute. Maybe try substituting for 1/2 of the sugar to start.

  6. P Lennon says:

I haven’t made this recipe yet, but I just used the Musselmans Apple Sauce to make a homemade Applesause cake. My mom worked for your company during the 50’s in West Va. Have always liked your product.

    1. Musselman's says:

Thank you for the 🍎💖! Apple Sauce is great for baking! And thank you to your mom for being a member of the Musselman’s FAMILY 😊

  7. Gena says:

Could this mix be made in a loaf pan?

    1. Musselman's says:

It is a very wet batter that makes moist muffins, so make sure that the center of your loaf is fully cooked.

  8. Helen says:
