Fruit & Nut Trail Cookies

These fruit & nut trail cookies are moist, delicious, and so easy to make. Use basic baking ingredients and the dried fruits and nuts in the pantry. Made with Musselman’s Unsweetened Apple Sauce.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup MUSSELMAN’S® Unsweetened Apple Sauce
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • ½ cup Brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 2 Egg whites
  • 1 ¼ cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¾ teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Quick-cooking oats, uncooked
  • ½ cup Chocolate chips
  • ½ cup Pecans (optional)
  • ½ cup Dried cranberries (optional)

Directions

  1. Step 1
    Beat apple sauce, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in a large bowl.

  2. Step 2
    In another bowl, use an electric mixer to beat egg whites until they're frothy and form stiff peaks.

  3. Step 3
    Fold egg whites into apple sauce mixture.

  4. Step 4
    Combine the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.

  5. Step 5
    Fold into the egg mixture.

  6. Step 6
    Stir in the oats, chocolate chips, pecans and cranberries.

  7. Step 7
    Drop by heaping teaspoons onto greased baking sheets.

  8. Step 8
    Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

  9. Step 9
    Cool on wire rack.
